about amanda
Ever since I can remember I've always had a love for baking. The excitement as a little girl who loved playing with her Easy Bake Oven, the creations she would make to making yummy cookies with her grandmas in the kitchen. That passion followed me to college where I would bake for my coworkers while pursuing my second passion of art. After meeting my Air Force husband, I took on a wonderful life of adventure, patriotism and moves to Germany, Alaska and Hawaii. With the pride that comes from being a military spouse also comes the uncertain career path that most military spouses face.
After over 11 years of working in the banking industry (and baking for coworkers) I found myself facing another exciting military move. My husband, son Gage and I relocated to Hickam AFB, HI in the Fall of 2011. I was able to stay at home with my son, enjoy island life and decide on my next career path. At this stage in my life I wanted to wake up excited and passionate about my career choice. In March of 2013 I launched Amanda's Artistic Creations. Here I would be combining my love for the island with art and baking. I offered jewelry making, mobile canvas painting parties and beachcomb creations. All the while still baking for my husband's coworkers.
On August 9, 2013 I launched my first Cupcake Friday. I was the first cupcakery on Hickam to offer variety cupcake boxes on a weekly basis. It was a well received idea that started out as a hobby and quickly became an overnight success. I spent the first year building a successful brand that has become a weekly household tradition to many families on and around Hickam. After countless hours spent on product and business development I decided to change my business name to Cupcake Me Away, create a website and a new face for my business.
Summer of 2016, after a relocation to Mexico Beach FL, we opened up a bakery under FL cottage food law. We've expanded our menu to include pies, cookies, bars, cobblers and other sweet treats.
